MSS gymnastics team wins gold at provincials

M’CHIGEENG—The Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) Mustangs Novice Aerobic Gymnastics team is the best in Ontario, having won gold at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) championship.

“Congratulations to our Manitoulin Secondary School Novice Aerobic Gymnastics Team on winning gold at OFSSA in Windsor today. The girls have worked extremely hard this year, and it paid off in spades,” stated MSS coach Heather Theijsmeijer in an email to the Recorder Tuesday.

Ms. Theijsmeijer told the Recorder Wednesday morning, “this is the first time our school has ever won the provincial championships. The girls are thrilled.” She pointed out last year Victoria Tardif won an individual silver medal at OFSAA but this is the first time a team or individual from MSS has won gold at OFSAA.

The MSS Novice Aerobic Gymnastics team is comprised of Eden Beaudin, Donnshai  Bruleigh, Jill Cooper, Alyssa Green, Yohana Ogbamichael and Roxy Rojas Brizuela.

Earlier this month the MSS team had won gold at the NOSSA championships, defending their NOSSA title from 2015.
