MINDEMOYA – The Mindemoya Foodland store held a very successful fundraising campaign to help support the members of Manitoulin Special Olympics (MSO).
“We did really well with the sale of 450 torches and $2 donations,” Carol Patterson, owner and manager of the store told the Recorder late last week. “In basically less than a week, six days, we were able to raise $944.”
Mindemoya Foodland took on the fundraising campaign to help support the members of MSO who are taking part in the 2020 National Special Olympics Winter Games.
The MSO athletes who will be taking part include Matthew Bedard, Dayne Tipper, Mark Dokum, Bruce Van Horn, Norm Daoust and coach Judy Olacke.
Customers at the store were asked as they went through the checkout at the store if they would like to donate $2 towards the MSO team. The fundraiser was held until February 12.
“Awesome,” was the word Janet Anning, MSO co-ordinator and coach, used to describe the support provided by Mindemoya Foodland and local residents to the fundraising campaign.
