Mindemoya BMO welcomes new branch manager

MINDEMOYA—Former Manitoulin resident Kara Hawke has been appointed as branch manager of the Bank of Montreal (BMO) in Mindemoya.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kara to the BMO team in Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island and are excited for the experience and knowledge she will bring to the team and our valued customers at the branch,” said Gary Zubal, regional vice-president, Ontario Northern Gateway, BMO.

Ms. Hawke told the Recorder, “the branch manager position in Mindemoya presents an opportunity for my personal growth, career goals and allows me to continue to meet new customers. As a family, we enjoyed coming to Manitoulin Island to visit family and friends and enjoy our cottage, so the decision to move back was easy.”

“My job is to ensure BMO values are demonstrated by all staff and to ensure customer service is at a level that exceed their expectations,” added Ms. Hawke.

Ms. Hawke took over the role of bank manager early in February, 2016. “I went to school in Sudbury, attending Cambrian College (graduating in 1994),” she explained. “I studied business administration (business management) and received my diploma in business. I have taken additional courses throughout the years,” and has attained a financial counselling diploma (Institute of Canadian Bankers),  investment funds in Canada (Canadian Securities Institute) and financial planning II (Canadian Securities Institute).

Ms. Hawke explained she has, “over 21 years of banking experience in the service and sales environment. I’ve worked in many areas including North Bay, Sudbury, Mattawa, Rama and Orillia. I started as an administrative officer trainee with Scotiabank out of college and worked hard to get promoted throughout the  years to manager of customer service and manager of personal banking.”

As for becoming the branch manager for the BMO in Mindemoya, “yes this will be a new experience for myself, the staff and the customers. It’s a new financial institution for me and I look forward to contributing to the success Bank of Montreal has on Manitoulin Island.”

“My job is to ensure BMO values are demonstrated by all staff and to ensure customer service is at a level that exceed their expectations,” added Ms. Hawke.
