To the Expositor:
The Metrolinx mandate applies to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), which includes Toronto, Durham, York, Peel, Halton and Hamilton. We have recommended that revenues raised in the GTHA area fund projects and programs in the GTHA.
If the Ontario government were to implement a province-wide approach, we have recommended that all revenue collected outside of the GTHA should be directed to priorities in those other regions.
We do not believe that areas outside of the GTHA should fund the Next Wave of transit projects in the GTHA.
