Melvin David Lewis (Takwadjiwan) passed away on September 25, 2014 in his 68th year. Melvin is predeceased by his parents David and Josephine (Gabow) Lewis, and in-laws John and Emma (Jawbone) Grand-Louis. Loving husband of MaryLou (Grand-Louis) Lewis. Cherished father of Derek (Amanda) and Dennis. Loving grandfather to Jadyn and Ryan. Loving brother of Elizabeth (Mike predeceased) Paul of M’Chigeeng, Henry predeceased (Lynda) of Wikwemikong, Beverly (Eugene) Lekawski of St. Catharines, Glen (Regina) of Wikwemikong, Jerry (Mary) of Sudbury, Ronnie of Wikwemikong, Monica (Marc) Pheasant of Wikwemikong. Dear brother-in-law of Jane (predeceased) Mel (predeceased) of New Liskeard, John Jr. predeceased (Janet) of Kipawa, James of Ottawa, Joe of Kipawa, Mervin (Sherry) of Kipawa, Michael (predeceased) of Kipawa. He is survived by his Aunt Victoria Mandamin, and will be sadly missed by his many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mel was a great musician who enjoyed playing guitar and the steel guitar. He was a great defenseman sporting the #4 Hockey shirt for the Wiky T-Birds. He was a wonderful, caring counsellor/bus driver for Manitoulin Secondary School for many years where he was well liked by all the students. He was a wonderful loving husband, a father and a grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog Ty (short for Tyberious) (predeceased). Rested at the Holy Cross Mission Church on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 4 pm. Funeral Mass was on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11 am at Holy Cross Mission Church. Cremation to follow.
