SUDBURY-On the 3rd of November 2015, at 8:00 p.m. the Greater Sudbury Police Service was called to a Melvin Avenue address in Greater Sudbury to investigate the death of a local man.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division took over the investigation, and ultimately it was determined that victim had been murdered by an unknown person,

The victim in this homicide was identified as:

  • Marcel Raymond COUILLARD
  • 51 Years of Age

A thorough and comprehensive investigation was commenced by members of the Criminal Investigations Division. Numerous investigative avenues were pursued, including the forensic examination of the crime scene, interviewing of witnesses, neighbourhood canvasses and a tip line.

On the 14th of November 2015 an arrest was made in relation to the murder of Mr. Couillard.

The accused in this investigation is a 23-year-old City of Greater Sudbury male. The 23-year-old male was acquainted with the victim Mr. Couillard. He now stands charged with the following offences:

  • 2nd Degree Murder – Section 235(1) Criminal Code
  • Breach of Probation – Section 733.1(1) Criminal Code

The 23-year-old male will appear in Bail Court on Monday the 16th of November 2015 to answer to these charges.
