Alex Carrick

Alex Carrick is 18 years old and hails from Central Manitoulin.

Alex just completed a pre-health program at Cambrian College. During her time off, she enjoys reading and paddle boarding.

Her major role model is my grandpa. “I have always looked up to him and admire his kindness,” Alex says.

Alex says her favourite thing about Manitoulin is the community and how everyone is always willing to help each other.

“Winning the Ambassador of the Fair would be a great opportunity to meet new people and experience a great aspect of the fair,” Alex shares.

Ben Dewar

Ben Dewar is 18 years old and is proud to call Providence Bay home.

In September, Ben will be returning to Cambrian College for his final year of studies.

In his spare time Ben enjoys golfing, hiking, fishing, reading and volunteering in his community.

Ben says that his father Darren has had the biggest influence on his life. “He is loved in my household and the community and I would be pleased if I could have half as many friends as he has.”

His favourite thing about Manitoulin is the sense of community. “From east to west, there’s always a friendly face around.”

Ben shares that he is participating in the Ambassador program to be a help to the fair, first and foremost, but “winning would be an honour but the main win is helping out in the community.”

Ben is sponsored by Mindemoya Home Hardware.

Alexis McVey

Alexis McVey is a 16-year-old from Evansville. She will be attending Grade 11 at Manitoulin Secondary School in the fall.

During her down time, Alexis loves to swim, read, walk her dogs, play sports and spend time with her family.

Alexis says her mom has been a major role model in her life because “she raised me by myself, showed me strength where others would have folded and taught me some of the most valuable lessons.”

“Winning the title of Ambassador of the Providence Bay Fair would mean I get to represent my home, family and give people a chance to get to know me and my desires, passion and love for Manitoulin Island.”

Alexis’ sponsor is Betty’s Convenience.

Lexis Young

Lexis Young is vying for the title of Ambassador of the Fair.

This 16-year-old from Spring Bay will be starting Grade 11 at Manitoulin Secondary School in the fall.

In her spare time, Lexis enjoys swimming, tubing, fishing and spending time with friends.

Lexis calls her grandfather her biggest role model “because he teaches me a lot on how to farm and how much work goes into it.”

She calls the beautiful lakes and friendly communities her favourite things about Manitoulin.

Lexis says winning the title of Providence Bay Fair Ambassador would mean a lot “because my great grandma was a big part of the fair and although she passed, I think she would be very proud.”

Lexis is sponsored by Stanley Park Campground.
