MARY (NEE GUY) APPLEBY

With sadness the family announces the passing of Mary Appleby in the early hours of Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, at the age of 79. Beloved wife of Lawrence Appleby predeceased 1999. Dear daughter of Edna and Arthur Guy, both predeceased. Loving mother of Sharon Piasentin (predeceased) (Alessio Piasentin of Sudbury), James Appleby (Karen) of Surrey, BC, Peter Appleby (Debbie) of Edmonton, Joyce Digout (Ray) of Spring Bay, and Susie Appleby of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Shawn Piasentin (Janey and her son William), Sherri Digout (James), Monica Appleby, Erin Appleby Wight (Ryan) and beloved great granddaughter Isabelle Piasentin, whose visits she truly enjoyed. Dear sister of Diane Smith (Les), Desmond, Carmen Montag, Helen Lyons (Gerard), Maurice “Gypsy” (Joanne), Irene Cudini (Edi), Jeannette (Dave St. Jean), Yvette and predeceased by Fernand, Gerard, Lionel, Laurette Chevrier and Percy. Mary was a strong-spirited and loving woman, who had a zest for life. Her door was always open for company. She was an energetic woman who never stopped. She loved her computer and playing Facebook games. Mary was an Avon Presidents’ Club Sales Achiever ‘Avon lady’ for 18 years, and had worked at Plaza 69 Pharmacy for 37 years. She loved to spend time at her camp on Lake Manitou, all year round, and couldn’t wait for the coldest months of the year to go ice fishing with her special son-in-law Alex. Two weeks before her surgery, she caught a 9lb lake trout and proudly displayed it by driving around on her Arctic Cat sled. Mary was the beloved best friend and mother of Susie Appleby. She was a devoted Pet Save supporter and had four beloved pet rescues. She will be sadly missed by her beloved pets Cuddles, Muggins, Smokie Bear and Snowflake. As per Mary’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) to Pet Save, P.O. Box 2769, Stn. A, Sudbury, Ontario, P3A 5J3 would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
