ASSIGINACK—The Haunted Ride is back, but with a few spooky surprises this year. On October 20, starting at the Assiginack arena, participants will climb aboard a wagon and grab a seat on a haybale and head out on the scariest ride of their lives! Cost is $2 and runs from 7-9 pm rain or shine. It will be a ride you won’t forget.
A set of stairs to get on the wagon has been created to help those with mobility issues, and we have added an additional tractor and wagon to reduce the wait time! You don’t want to miss this ride!
Come back the next day, Sunday, October 21, to the Pumpkin Festival held at the Fairgrounds in Manitowaning and have a blast with the different activities happening from 11 am to 3 pm. It’s a day that is jam packed with activities for everyone!
As part of the Pumpkin Festival festivities, kids can enter a bagel bake off, with the option of using the easiest recipe ever with only four ingredients, found at Assiginack.ca! Anyone can enter the pumpkin muffin contest. There is a pumpkin paper mache workshop for kids on October 9 so they can build the pumpkin and then take it home and decorate it to be entered in the paper mache contest at the Festival. This year a pumpkin catapult contest for kids has been created with cash prizes awarded to best young catapult engineers. There is a hay bale throwing contest for those to test their strength and agility as you throw bales onto a wagon. All contests have cash prizes associated with them.
There are games for the kids to play and refreshments available to purchase. Craft vendors will be in attendance as well. New this year is a fortune teller! The annual pumpkin catapult has a $500 cash prize for the furthest throw. Two new cash prizes have been added to the contest: $100 each for the team with the most spirit and the catapult catastrophe award. Please note there are a few changes to the rules this year to level the playing field and to monitor safety.
A huge thank you to Cambrian Insurance for sponsoring the event! There is no cost to attend the Pumpkin Festival on October 21. For more information visit Assiginack.ca.
