MARJORIE DORIS PIERCE

September 22, 1921 – October 18, 2011
In loving memory of Marjorie Pierce, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, who died at the Lodge on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Gordon Township, daughter of the late Sandy and Ethel (Strain) Wright. She married her beloved husband Norm on January 11, 1950. Marjorie had a very active life, raising her family. She drove the mail occasionally, and for many years, drove kids to the Flower of Hope School. She worked along side her husband Norm, at Norm’s Resort until selling in the mid 70’s. Marjorie also spent much time at the Rainbow Hobby Crafts and was a member of the Anglican Church in Kagawong and the ACW. She spent many enjoyable winters in Florida with friends after she and Norm retired. Marjorie will be remembered as a great cook. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be sadly missed, but many wonderful memories will be cherished. Marjorie was predeceased by her first husband Earl Freeman and her second husband Norm Pierce (1999). Loving and loved mother of Stan and his wife Carol of Kagawong and Rhonda and her husband Ron Elford of Windsor. Marj had a special relationship with all her grandchildren and a special fondness for Catryanna, her eldest great-granddaughter. Proud and loved grandmother of Andrea and husband Nadeem, Collin and his wife Jen, Raegan and Michael and great-grandchildren Catryanna, Zecka, Christina Sonia and Kaden. Dear sister of Edith Best (Cliff predeceased) of Gore Bay, Alvin Wright predeceased, wife Katie of Gore Bay, Roy Wright, wife Madeline of Sudbury and Betty Fisher, (husband Bill predeceased) of Kagawong. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 1 pm – 2 pm. The funeral service to celebrate Marjorie’s life was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Walmsley officiating. Interment in Kagawong Cedars Cemetery.
