In loving memory of Marina Recollet (nee Pangowish), born on September 25, 1936 and started her spirit journey on September 20, 2016 at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home. Marina was the loving wife of the late Dan Recollet of 59 years. Loving mother of Lloyd (wife Zaben), Ronnie (wife Lorraine), Patsy, Ted (wife Roxanne), Marcel (wife Hazel), Bruce (wife Sylvia), Ethel (husband Howard), and Terrence. Special mother to Marilyn Kimewon. Dear grandmother to 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Dear daughter of the late John and Bernadette (nee Osawaminiki) Pangowish (both predeceased). Dear sister of Lillian-Mary (husband Nash), the late Stanley (the late Joanne), the late Henry, Lima (the late Frankie), the late Annie, Jean (husband Wally), Clarence (wife Marilyn), Julia (husband Ernie) and Lorraine. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will also be missed by the staff of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home for her extraordinary humour. Marina was an artisan of her time. She enjoyed making quill boxes and other birch bark work, which have been recognized internationally. Ma was an amazing cook especially on family camping trips where there was always a variety of fish from the catch of the day. Her baked goods and homemade soups were thoroughly enjoyed by all her family and the patrons of the former Patsy’s Family Restaurant. Marina taught her children the importance of gardening. She also instilled the process of canning for Pa’s maple syrup including her mustard beans, chaa chaa, pickled beets and other preserves. She was a hard worker and had strong family values, which will be cherished by all. She was an avid Hockey Mom for all her boys including many of her grandchildren. She was also a strong advocate for our Anishinaabemowin. Rested at Holy Cross Mission Church, Wikwemikong, Ontario from Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 2 pm. Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 am. Burial at the Wikwemikong Upper Cemetery.
