MARIE EVELYN IRENE ANSTICE (NEE BROWN)

Marie Evelyn Irene Anstice (nee Brown) died peacefully with both daughters at her side, on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 91. Mother of Carol (Lance) Mayer, Barbara (predeceased) (Harvey) Drysdale, Karen (Joe) Smith. Grandmother of Victoria, Jane (Ivan), Matthew, Heidi, Elysha, Derek, Ronnie and Jerit (Cherrell). Great-grandmother of Jake, Kai, Cole, Haley, Haydn, Jack, Ben, Chase, Kayla, Leah Marie, Everett, Mia, Keisha and Derek Jr. Sister-in-law of Glen Harrison (Dave predeceased), Justine and Ron Anstice, Ken and Evelyn Anstice, Jeanette and Doug. Predeceased by her loving husband Bert, her parents Hazel (nee Little) and Archie Brown, brother Carl Brown (Roberta) and her inlaws Dorothy and Victor Anstice. Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Marie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She sewed clothing for her children, and knit them socks, mitts, and sweaters. She loved the outdoors, gardening and walking. She followed the Blue Jays and knew every player by name. She was devoted to the United Church, baking for every event, she proudly received a 30 year devotion pin. Marie was a strong woman with a quiet and gentle heart. She endured a lot in her life, however she remained reserved and was known by all for her bright smile. Family and friends gathered at Knox United Church on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Visitation at 11 am with Funeral Service at 12 pm. Rev. Martin Garniss officiating. Burial will be at Hilly Grove Cemetery later in the spring. Donations can be made in Marie’s honour to Knox United Church or the Centennial Manor Auxiliary. Island Funeral Home can only accept cheques for all charitable donations.
