With God in her heart and many loved ones by her side, Marianne peacefully passed at home in London, Ontario on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Beloved wife of Timothy Joseph Gallagher, her husband of 45 years. Loving mother of Troy Gallagher (Tiffany) and Sheila Gallagher. Cherished Oma of Owen, Luca, Carter and Nash. Marianne was the eldest sibling to Cor (Ruth, predeceased), Gerry (Wanda), Vera (Kelly) and David (Christine). She was predeceased by her sister Leah, her parents Catharina and Peter Schouten, as well as her sisters-in-law Jane Ahopelto and Betsy Gallagher. She was very grateful and maintained close relationships with her family in Holland, where both her parents were born. Marianne had wonderful in-laws whom she loved to spend time with; Pat (Paulette), Gord (Vivian), Danny (Judy), Jon (Pam), Kelly (Vera), Nora, Roy and Joan. She will be remembered with love by many nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Marianne was blessed with many friendships and especially cherished the support of Heather (Larry), Nicole (Gary) and Susan (Rob). In addition to wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend, Marianne spent over 40 years as a Registered Nurse at Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current, Ontario. She will be remembered by colleagues and patients for her compassion, patience, and willingness to work as a team. Born and raised in Espanola, Ontario, where Tim and Marianne also raised their children, she was an avid volunteer in the community. Her legacy will resound through her acts of kindness, generosity and compassion and will continue to echo for many years to come. Those who knew and loved her will always remember her strength of courage, generous heart, unshakable faith, and gentle, loving ways. There is nothing Marianne wouldn’t do for the people she loved. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be conducted by Father Gilles in Espanola at St. Jude’s Parish, 247 Mead Blvd., June 17, 2022 at 10 am. A memorial gathering will take place following her funeral service at The Royal Canadian Legion, 370 Annette St. from 11 am to 3 pm, where friends and family can gather in her honour to celebrate her life.
