LITTLE CURRENT—A group of Manitoulin Centennial Manor Auxiliary volunteers gathered at the Manor in Little Current recently to remember a longtime friend and associate volunteer whose lifelong contributions had made a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of Manor residents.

In a fitting tribute, the auxiliary purchased a watercolour painting print, ‘The Garden Angel,’ by Trisha Romance to honour Gail Leeson and the painting now hangs in the hallway of the Manor.

Auxiliary member Donna Wuksinic explained that Ms. Leeson, although not an official auxiliary member herself, was a perennial volunteer at the Manor, and was always ready to lend a hand to whatever needed to be done.

“She used to come and volunteer all the time,” said Ms. Wuksinic. “She would come and help decorate for special events, help out with the birthday parties at the Manor and dance.”

“We all knew her,” said auxiliary member Linda Bowerman, who was also known to tap a light fantastic along with Ms. Leeson to entertain the residence with a bit of clogging/stepdance action.

Ms. Leeson will be missed, but her memory will live on in the hallways of the Manor in the form of the ‘Garden Angel.’

“She was an angel, for sure,” said Ms. Bowerman.
