Manitoulin Transport acquires Yukon’s Kluane Freight Lines

GORE BAY—Manitoulin Transport has announced that effective Monday, December 10, 2018, they have acquired Kluane Freight Lines LTL and general freight business.

Founded in 1979 to provide reliable freight transportation services north of Whitehorse, this Yukon-based regional LTL carrier has served the Yukon Territory for nearly 40 years. Manitoulin Transport has a long history of partnership with Kluane.

Jeff King, president of Manitoulin Transport said, “this acquisition gives us one net new terminal, that being in Dawson City, Yukon. Kluane’s operations at Edmonton and Whitehorse will move to the Manitoulin terminals in these cities. We will convert 13 existing interline points to direct services.”

“Kluane will be co-branded with Manitoulin Transport,” said Mr. King. He explained, “similar to our last acquisition (Express Havre St-Pierre (EHSP) of Quebec), Kluane serves many of the same vertical markets as does Manitoulin. This is another strategic acquisition for our company. As part of the acquisition, we will enter into a joint venture partnership with Chief Isaac Group of Companies to provide long-term stable transportation solutions for the people and businesses of Dawson City and surrounding areas.”
