Manitoulin Secondary School runners post excellent results at Nipissing Invitational meet

M’CHIGEENG—Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) Mustang runners posted very good results at the Nipissing Invitational Track and Field championships held in North Bay last Friday.

Maren Kasunich took first place in all three events she took part in. Maren was first in the senior girls 1,500 metre race with a time of 5:08, first in the 3,000 metres in 11:08 and first in the 2,000-metre steeplechase with a time of 7:21.

Brodie Pennie led the way in the senior boys’ division, finishing first in the 1,500 metre race in a time of 4:14, first in the 3,000 metres in 9:48 and second in the 800 metre race (2:08).

Mustang Alan Wilkin placed fourth in two races, in the 400 metres (in 55 seconds), and the 800-metre race in a time of 2:14. Alan was third in the 2,000-metre race in a time of 7:20.

In the junior boys’ division, Xavi Mara was sixth in the 1,500-metre race in a time of 4:57. He also took part in the 2,000-metre race, posting a time of 7:34.
