LITTLE CURRENT—This summer will mark a first for Manitoulin as it plays host to some of the hottest DJs in Canada at the Frec Me EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Fest on Friday, June 27 to Saturday, June 28 at the Flat Rock Entertainment Centre (Frec) in Little Current (the Manitoulin Country Fest grounds on Harbour View Road).
“It’s going to be a great way to kick off the summer,” said organizer Kelly Timmermans of the new festival. “We’re really excited about it.”
Ms. Timmermans said that the acts booked so far include JUNO Award winners A Tribe Called Red (2014 Breakthrough Group of the Year), Toronto’s DJ Dyro, Alan Aguero, Maxum and Northerners DJ Neon Nomad and DJ South Wind.
“We have just launched a KickStarter campaign for the festival in the hopes of raising money for a big name (DJ) Saturday night,” explained Ms. Timmermans. “The talent is quite expensive and we would love to add another name to the lineup.”
Through the KickStarter campaign individuals can purchase the exclusive VIP package (limited to 200 tickets and only available to individuals 19 years and over) which include front stage access for the festival, unlimited water, access to the VIP beer gardens and a swag bag all for $150 (the cost of the weekend pass).
General admission tickets can be purchased through the KickStarter campaign with weekend passes for $50 (limited to the first 300).
Tickets are also available through Ticketbreak (with access on the Frec.me website) for $75 for a weekend pass (plus taxes) or $35 for a Friday night only pass and $55 for a Saturday night only pass.
Weekend camping is also available onsite for $25.
Besides the music, Ms. Timmermans said they are hoping to have a midway at the festival, in addition to great vendors.
