(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) –The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be participating in the Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign which runs from November 26, 2020 to January 3, 2021.
The Festive RIDE campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season.
During the campaign, OPP officers will be highly visible as they conduct RIDE initiatives throughout the community. The OPP is reminding the public to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed alcohol or drugs.
If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
The holiday season is a time to enjoy with family and friends, let’s work together and make sure everyone gets to their intended destination safe. If you know or suspect that a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, call 9-1-1. In doing so, you may be saving lives.
