Fire Being Treated As Suspicious

LITTLE CURRENT – On Wednesday July 23, 2014 at 11:20 PM Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of a House Fire located on Blake Street, in Little Current.

Preliminary investigation shows that a resident happened to look out his window and observe flames coming from his neighbour’s garage. He attended the residence and notified the owner of the home. They both managed to spray the fire with a fire extinguisher and then used a garden hose to extinguish the fire completely. There was very little damage caused and no injuries. The Northeastern Manitoulin & the Islands (NEMI) Volunteer Fire Department was called and have deemed the fire suspicious in nature.

Manitoulin OPP has initiated an investigation and has called in the Ontario Fire Marshall to assist. Members of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are also assisting. The neighbourhood is being canvassed by police in order to try and obtain additional information.
