(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will start the annual Thanksgiving long weekend traffic campaign from October 9th through to October 12th, 2020.
During this time, officers will be targeting the “Big Four” traffic offences which consists of alcohol/drug impaired driving, inattentive driving, aggressive driving (including speeding) and lack of occupant restraint use.
Our OPP members will be conducting a combination of education and enforcement with road users in an effort to change driving behaviour and save lives.
If your long weekend activities include operating a motor vehicle, a boat or an off-road vehicle, be certain that you understand the laws associated with their use. Remember to take charge of your safety and the safety of your passengers by taking a few minutes prior to departure to be fully prepared, wear a helmet, and be prepared for the weather.
Expect higher volumes of traffic and never risk anyone’s life due to unsafe operating or driving behaviour. Arrive at your destination and return home safely this Thanksgiving Long Weekend.
