(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – On October 26, 2020 at approximately 6:16 p.m. members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 6, in Whitefish River First Nation.
Police located the vehicle and determined the driver had consumed alcohol. Police continued their roadside investigation and the accused was arrested and transported to the Espanola detachment for further testing.
As a result, Antoinette BONADIO, 48-years-old, of Birch Island was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the CC; and
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.
The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 16, 2020, in Gore Bay.
The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
There have been a total of 53 drivers charged under the Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in Manitoulin OPP detachment area in 2020.
