ESPANOLA, ON) – On December 7, 2019, at approximately 4:38 p.m. officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint regarding a possible impaired driver in Little Current, Ontario. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6 in the Town of Espanola, Ontario.
It was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol and drugs.
As a result, Anna PITAWANAKWAT, 44-years-old, from Nepean, Ontario, has been charged with:
- Operation while prohibited under Criminal Code (CC) contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the CC,
- Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a),
- Operation while Impaired – combined blood alcohol and blood drug combination contrary to section 320.14(1)(d).
The accused was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, Ontario on January 20, 2020.
