Event to be held in Mindemoya January 21

MANITOULIN—Manitoulin Island municipalities and First Nations, in partnership with LAMBAC and Waubetek Business Development Corporation, are set to host a Business Resource Showcase on Thursday, January 21 to connect local businesses with support and resources.

The come-and-go event, being held at the Mindemoya Community Hall from 3 to 7 pm, will bring business owners, managers and sole proprietors together with business support organizations.

The event stems from a directory that was produced through a joint initiative of LAMBAC, Waubetek, Manitoulin Island municipalities and First Nations as a direct result of the success realized from a similar directory and event held in Espanola in the fall of 2015.

“Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the small businesses in the area—I really believe they are missing out on truly valuable resources if they don’t support these kinds of events,” said one of the participants at the Espanola Showcase.

“Businesses don’t always know where to look for support and often assume there is none, when in fact, Manitoulin is rich with public organizations that offer support services to new and existing businesses,” said Nancy Kinoshameg, economic development officer with the Municipality of Central Manitoulin.
