SHEGUIANDAH FIRST NATION–On Saturday, August 31 at 8:46 am, as a result of a request from the Manitoulin Ambulance Service Manitoulin OPP officers attended a residence on the Sheguiandah First Nation. Police arrived on scene to find the ambulance service attending to an injured male. An investigation was started into the cause of these injuries to the male with many people interviewed at the scene. The injured male was then taken to the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current for treatment.
Police attended the Health Centre to interview the male and while there another male attended the hospital, apparently to seek out the victim. Police recognized the male as there were outstanding warrants for his arrest. Upon the male being placed under arrest he resisted and had to be subdued before he was taken into custody.
As a result of this incident, charged with obstruct police and resist arrest, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of fail to comply with an undertaking is a 19-year-old male of Wingish Mikan Road, Sheguiandah First Nation. The accused was remanded in custody appeared on Tuesday, September 3 at Ontario Bail Court in Gore Bay.
