GORE BAY—Lee Turley has resigned as the administrator of the Manitoulin Lodge Nursing Home in Gore Bay.
“It’s with a lot of mixed emotions that I’m leaving the Lodge,” Mr. Turley told the Recorder this past Monday.
Mr. Turley told the Recorder he had tendered his resignation to Jarlette Health Services two weeks ago and will officially move on from his position as administrator as of August 11.
“I’ve loved being the administrator of the Lodge,” he said. “The Lodge nursing home has grown by leaps and bounds and the staff and residents have been amazing. The staff is very inspiring and truly are here to make an outstanding difference in the lives of the residents they serve. We have grown so much with our community partners and have really started to make a name in the surrounding communities through our marketing and DementiAbility programs. We have overcome hurdles and have had positive Resident Quality Inspections (RQI) with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and I am happy to say that our last RQI had no ministry orders. With the outstanding staff at Manitoulin Lodge and a very dedicated leadership team I can see the Lodge going forward and becoming a leader in the long term care industry.”
“My moving on has nothing to do with the Lodge itself,” he continued, “it has to do with having a new job opportunity.” Mr. Turley explained that he has landed a position as a nurse manager with the Espanola Regional Hospital.
Mr. Turley has worked for Jarlette Health Services for the past 11 years and specifically with Manitoulin Lodge for seven years. He has served as a personal support worker, a registered practical nurse, restorative care coordinator, staff educator and most recently as the Lodge administrator since June 2015.
“Jarlette has been an amazing company to work for and truly does foster the family approach to Nursing,” said Mr. Turley. He noted the company is interviewing for a new person to take over as administrator of the Lodge and a candidate is expected to be selected shortly.
