The regular meeting of the Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary was held on February 5. If you would like to attend a business meeting, come to the Multi-Purpose Room at 7 pm on the first Thursday of the month. Meetings are held from September to June. The December and June meetings are usually held in a local eatery. You can attend without obligating yourself in any way.

The meeting focussed on reports from representatives of our regular activities as well as planning for upcoming events. All fundraisers continue to provide us with funds for patient services. Thank you to all who contribute!

The Book Sale at the end of January was great. It was our most successful two day sale. The next one will be on March 4 (5 to 8 pm. and 5 (9 am to 2 pm). Many new titles have already been donated.

It’s casserole dinner time! This is Little Current’s favourite dinner out. Buy your ticket (still only $10) and attend at 6 pm on Friday, March 18 in the United Church Hall. Sue Lafreniere is the co-ordinator. Call her at 705-368-2336 if you would like to donate a casserole or a cake. Each casserole should be large enough to feed 10 people and the cakes should be 9”x13”.

Vesey’s bulbs will soon be on sale. There are lots of new choices for a beautiful garden. If you would like to help out in the sales, contact Dave Sylvester at 705-368-1709.

The Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary will be well-represented at the spring Conference in Sault Ste. Marie. Three members will attend as provincial Hospital Auxiliaries Associations of Ontario reps and nine will attend as delegates. The theme is “Our Volunteers are Stars.”

The HELPP Lottery tickets that are sold Monday to Friday from 11 am until 1 pm are under provincial jurisdiction and rules must be followed to maintain the licence. One of our obligations is to ensure that all tickets are opened at the point of sale. We would face the loss of our licence if we did not follow this rule.

The next meeting is on Thursday, March 3 at 7 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.
