Manitoulin Golf crowns mixed tournament champions

GORDON—The Justice Corbiere and Jackie Patterson team were the winners of the championship flight at the Manitoulin Golf mixed championship held this past weekend. They posted a 36-hole score of 146 (75-71) over the two-day event, beating their closest competitors by three strokes.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming out and playing this weekend,” said Cheryl Deeg, manager of the Manitoulin Golf Pub and Grill. “I hope everyone had a great time this weekend.”

“And thank you to Cheryl  and her clubhouse and kitchen staff, and the course grounds crew,” said Dan Marois.

Finishing second in the championship flight was the James Beaudin and Laura Assinewai team which posted a total score of 149.

Taking first place in the second flight was the Stewart Simpson and Sheila Bray team, with a score of 166. Second in this flight was the Roger and Char Beaudin team with a score of 171.

Special prizes were presented, including for the longest drive. On Saturday the longest drive prize was won by Meranda Varey on the ladies’ side, and Justice Corbiere on the mens’ side. On Sunday, the winner on the ladies’ side was Sheila Bray, with Warren Corbiere on the mens’ side.

The closest to the pin prizes on Saturday went to Laura Corbiere on the second hole, Jim Cahill on the 11th hole and Justice Corbiere on the fourth hole. On Sunday the prizes for closest to the pin including Justice Corbiere on the fourth hole and Allison Idle on the second and 11th holes.

The raffle prize of a Patioflame, donated by Pat Noble Lumber, was won by Justice Corbiere.
