Administrator’s report
Manor administrator Michelle Bond presented the board with her October report. She was pleased to inform the board that the long term care home was at 99.69 percent occupancy with 25 applicants on the waiting list. She said that there was a very low number of shifts being covered by the agency, which was good. She also stressed the home’s need for more PSWs and that the home was advertising for vacant positions.
Financial report
Extendicare Regional Director Keith Clement said that finances were pretty stable this month. He reported that the biggest issue was overspending in nursing last month, leading the home to be at a $14,000 deficiency year to date, though the nursing element was now under control and he was anticipating that the home would break even by the end of the year.
“Michelle and I have been working on the budget, going through the final numbers and will be bringing the budget to the board in November,” said Mr. Clement.
Fundraising update
Wendy Gauthier gave an update on the Calling On You campaign for a new call bell system. She said that they were nearing the final leg of hitting their fundraising goal and that she anticipates good sales for the Tree Of Lights this year to help reach the Calling On You campaign’s goal of $100,000.
The board carried a motion for the creation of a Manor Facebook page for the purpose of updating the public on fundraising campaigns. The Facebook page will go public on November 1.
The board also approved a logo that Ms. Gauthier had created by a local artist and made digital with help from The Expositor production team.
