WHITEFISH RIVER FIRST NATION–On February 7, 2013, the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin (UCCM) Anishnaabe Police Service, assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) canine and emergency response unit, responded to a report that a male, Isaac Jacob Paibomsai was on the Whitefish River First Nation. A press release from the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad stated that Mr. Paibomsai had a history of sexual assault and other assault-related offences and was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

The UCCM Anishinaabe Police worked closely with the ROPE squad during the course of the investigation, which assisted in the successful apprehension of the 35-year-old male last Thursday.

A press release from the UCCM Anihinaabe Police reports that Mr. Paibomsai was attempting to evade police when he was arrested in a wooded area of the Whitefish River First Nation. Mr. Paibomsai was then transferred to the custody of Corrections Canada.
