Make your way to Gore Bay to celebrate the 7th annual Harbour Days July 27-29

GORE BAY––Mark your calendars for Gore Bay’s three day weekend festival. There will be lots of fun for all ages, with popular returning events including the cardboard boat race, a pancake breakfast, a fish fry, live music,  a Saturday night dance and watch for a number of new activities this year.

The event kicks off on Friday, July 27 with the Farmers’ Market from 9 am until 1 pm.

Hydro One’s Discovery Centre is open throughout the weekend from 9 am until 4 pm. Try out interactive exhibits and meet with the Hydro One team one-on-one.

Dan the Music Man takes the stage Friday at 2 pm.

Don’t miss out on the Heart and Stroke Big Bike Ride at 4 pm on Friday. Cheer on the peddlers for a cause as they ride through downtown Gore Bay.

Catch Gore Bay Theatre’s production of A.R. Gurney’s ‘Love Letters’ at the Gore Bay Community Hall starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $20 at the door, cash only.

The beer garden will be open from 8 pm until 1 am and features live music.

Start your day Saturday, July 28 with a pancake breakfast from 8:30 am until 10:30 am. Sponsored by the Gore Bay Rotary Club.

Be sure to watch the amazing stunts, grace and sophistication of the Summer Water Sports Travelling Ski Show and Flyboarding at 11 am on Saturday. Fun for the whole family!

The ever popular Chantal is back with Face Painting by Chantal from 10 am until 2 pm Saturday.

From 11 am until 4 pm, ‘It’s Not a Party Without Us’ will be onsite to keep kids happy with bouncy castles, a foam pool party, a jousting arena, Bonzai water sports and a candy stand.

From 11 am until 2 pm Saturday, feed your hunger with the Western Manitoulin Lions Club barbecue where they’ll be serving up beef on a bun. Beverages will be available.

Try your hand at kite flying on the waterfront at 12 noon.

Compete in the competitive and popular cardboard boat regatta beginning at 12 noon on Saturday. Categories include Youth 12 and under (can include more than one person per boat); Family (same family, with at least one child 12 and under and one adult); and Open (any age and any number of crew members per boat). Immediately following the cardboard boat races are the river tube races and inflatable dinghy races. Dinghies will be provided but please, bring and wear your own lifejacket.

Beer gardens open at 12 noon and remain open until 7 pm on Saturday. Enjoy live music all afternoon.

Try your hand at washer toss and enter the tournament from 12 pm until 5 pm.

The Gore Bay and Gordon/Barrie Island Fire Department will be on hand from 1 pm until 3 pm, or let the kiddies try some swimming pool fishing during that time.

Vintage car buffs will enjoy the classic car show Saturday afternoon from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Catch a repeat of the Summer Water Sports Travelling Ski Show and Flyboarding at 2 pm on Saturday and again at 4 pm.

Folks will surely have worked up an appetite and the Western Manitoulin Lions Club will be selling hot dogs and beverages from 2 pm until 4 pm.

The Gore Bay Rotary Club’s famous fish fry happens from 5 pm until 7 pm and is followed by a free licenced dance with a live band to wrap things up for Saturday.

Harbour Days wind down with an ecumenical church service at the waterfront tent beginning at 11 am on Sunday. Everyone is welcome.
