MAITLAND OZBURNE WILSON January 11, 1938 – August 11, 2023 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Maitland Ozburne Wilson on August 11, 2023 at home, with his loving family by his side. Mait was born January 11, 1938 to Jack and Edna (VanHorne), both predeceased. Mait worked 46 years in the automotive sector. Mait loved hunting on Manitoulin Island with his brothers, and at Amyott with his dear friend “Shorty” and company, over the years. The fun and great stories of the hit and misses brought a lot of laughter and wonderful times. Mait had many happy memories travelling the world with Shirley and Greg. He loved bowling and belonging to the Walden Seniors, enjoying their card groups, luncheons, dinners and social evenings, which added happy times in his retirement. His sense of humour and wit will be missed. He had volunteered over the years with different organizations, Boy Scouts, Anderson Farm Museum Heritage Society and others. Mait was a proud member of the Waters/Walden Lions Club for 39 years, receiving the Melvin Jones award. Predeceased by his brother Leowen (Ownie). Survived by his loving supportive wife of 57 years, Shirley (Logue) and son Gregory (Oakville), brother Keith (Sault Ste. Marie), sister Linda/Seppo (Toronto), sister-in-law Zella/Aurele (Espanola) and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Bayshore Nursing Staff, especially Lyndsey for her care and compassion through Mait’s journey. Also to Dr. Levasseau, Dr. Carlson and the Palliative Care Team. Cremation by Sudbury Park Lawn. Graveside service by Diane Tait at Hilly Grove Cemetery, Manitoulin Island, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1 pm followed by a lunch at the Tehkummah Senior Centre. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to the Heart and Stroke, Northern Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
