M.S.S Kids in the Halls

Welcome back to Kids in the Hall! I’d like to start off this week’s article by congratulating everyone who has accepted their post-secondary offers! MSS is excited to see where the next few months takes you.

The annual greenhouse sale was held on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12. There were a variety of different plants for sale that had been grown at the school. These plants were taken care of throughout the winter by a variety of different classes and groups including the Agriculture SHSM students. At the end of the week you could see students taking home those plants to continue growing in their own homes.

Back in February MSS participated in an energy conservation challenge held by the school board. The results have been released to the schools but not officially published yet. Keep an eye out to see how well MSS did, as the winners will be announced soon!

With MSS’s upcoming All-Grade Prom the Prom Project has started. Community members can send in their gently used suits and dresses to be made available for students. With these community contributions everyone’s prom experience can be special.

On Wednesday, May 10 it was announced that 49 people had been eliminated from the school-wide game Spymaster. That number just keeps increasing by the day! For those who are unfamiliar with Spymaster, it is a game where participating students and teachers receive a target that they have to “pin” with a clothespin. Once they have “pinned” their target, they receive that person’s target. The game continues until there is one left standing. I happened to be participating in Spymaster and I am proud to say I lasted the entire week…until one of my closest friends had me as their target. Good luck to everyone still in the game, I am excited to see who will win!

The MSS Choir went on a trip to Toronto last week. The group got to experience many city-wonders like seeing the musical ‘Hamilton.’ The group also watched Star Wars with a live orchestra playing the soundtrack, saw different sea creatures at Ripley’s Aquarium and visited a museum. The choir also had the very exciting opportunity to perform for the Ontario Legislature.

Talent show sign ups have begun! MSS hosts a talent show every spring so students can prepare and display things like dances, skits, songs, and much more! The talent show is not only an opportunity for students to showcase their skills, but also a chance for the school community to come together and celebrate the diverse talents and interests of our students. I can’t wait to see what students have in store!

Thank you for taking the time to read about the latest updates and highlights from our school. From recognizing our graduating seniors and the achievements of the MSS choir. I hope everyone has a great week!

Until next time, go, Mustangs, go!
