Dufrain-DeathIn Loving Memory of Lucy Elizabeth DuFrain (nee Watson) who died peacefully at Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jack DuFrain. Step-mother of Betty and husband John Miller of Ohio, Jack Jr. and wife Carolyn of Virginia. Step-grandmother of twelve. Predeceased by sister Noreen Towers and by her parents Art and Julie (McGauley) Watson. Born and raised in Sandfield, on a farm Lucy learned to love animals and nature. Lucy loved her home and didn’t want to leave. She left to go to Sault Ste. Marie to further her education, but always was looking forward to coming home to help at Watson’s Camp. She worked in various states, as a secretary, but settled in Hammond, Indiana, where she met her husband Jack. Returning to the Manitoulin in 2009 to finally achieve her dream of being home and running the camp. Her health failed and with help she was able to keep Watson’s Camp operating. Lucy loved to take in the scenery and wildlife. She will be remembered for her kind and considerate ways, sharing of her knowledge about nature and her desire to protect and preserve it, and her many stories about the camp and the Watson family. She will be remembered and missed. Visitation was from 1 pm with Funeral Service at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Fairview United Church, Tehkummah. Burial at Hilly Grove Cemetery.
