Lost hunter located

NOELVILLE – On Monday November 10, 2014 at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Noelville OPP were called to assist in locating one missing hunter in the area of French River.  Members from the Northeast Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) were involved in the search.

A 70 year old male hunter was located safe and unharmed in the early morning hours of November 11, 2014.  The male hunter realizing he was lost, had stayed in one location, and had started a fire to keep himself warm, of which is the proper action to take when lost.  Police remind hunters to stay in one place if separated from their hunting party or have become disoriented.  No matter how experience or familiar a hunter is with the area, there is always a chance that something can go wrong.

Any hunter, no matter how short or long, they will be out in the woods, should always have extra clothing, survival gear, let someone know of their plans and destination, and  have a form of a communication device with them at all times.
