LORI CASE
August 5, 1956 – July 29, 2024
On Monday, July 29, 2024, with her family at her side, Lori peacefully passed away and is now with her beloved husband, Jim (predeceased 1999). Mom, as she was known to Matthew (Leanne), Christy (Mike), Mandy (Brock), Becky (Ryan) and Misty (predeceased), spent her life taking care of her children and always putting their needs before her own. Being a grandma to Connor, Ella, Noah (Leah), Lane, Owen, Gabe, Gavin and Lily was the true light of her life. Her love of special occasions like Christmas, had grandma preparing their favourite foods, doing scavenger hunts, and adding plenty of decorations to make the holidays extra special. Lori was born on August 5, 1956 in Little Current, Ontario to Pearl Hall and Fredrick Rutledge, both predeceased. Her early years were mainly spent in Manitowaning, where she enjoyed activities such as skating, swimming and listening to music in the company of great friends like Shirley Harasym, all the while, excelling in school and fostering a life-long love of reading. An exceptional employee of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services for over 35 years, Lori was the ultimate working mom, juggling both a career and her family, with devotion and boundless energy. She could often be found completing household tasks or taking on home improvement projects with her friend, Brenda Gibbons, well after midnight. It was also over the course of her career where her colleagues such as Patricia Giroux became special friends for life. Not one to sit still, Lori filled her days in retirement volunteering for various organizations and committees in Manitowaning such as the Agricultural Society, the Library Board, the Museum Board, and the Southeast Manitoulin Lions Club. There was still time for a coffee break with good friends like Karen Vanzant; Lori thoroughly enjoyed a strong cup of coffee! Lori is survived by her sister Patricia Linkert and in-laws Denise Rutledge, Pat Toms, Dale Duxbury, Cathy Hall, Roberta (Larry) Cress and Robert (Sharon) Case. Predeceased by siblings Jean, Wayne, Dawn, William, Robert, Cheryl, Janet and Jim. A special aunt to many, with a particularly close bond to nieces Susan Mackenzie and April Bechamp. Lori will be missed by her loyal and protective furry friend Rosie. The family would like to thank all of the staff on the 4th floor, South Tower at Health Sciences North and Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current Site for the exceptional care Lori received. Visitation took place on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 9:30 am to 11 am at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Manitowaning. Service took place immediately following the visitation at 11 am. Interment followed at Hilly Grove Cemetery. Family and friends were invited to a luncheon at St. Paul’s Anglican Church following the burial. If so desired, donations can be made to the Manitoulin Health Centre. Arrangements by Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd, Espanola.
