LOIS ROWENA NEWBURN

March 3, 1919 – April 8, 2012

In loving memory of Lois Newburn, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge, Gore Bay and formerly of Kagawong, who died at the Lodge on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the age of 93 years. She was born in Billings Township, daughter of the late Richard and Emma (Van Horne) Tustian. Lois had been a homemaker most her life as well as working with Roy on the farm. She was a member of St. Paul’s on the Hill United Church and the UCW of the church. Lois enjoyed playing crokinole and euchre, quilting, playing piano and square dancing. She will also be remembered as being a good cook (especially muffins). Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband Roy in September of 1994. Loving and loved mother of Sandra and her husband Ken Buck of Espanola and Wes and his wife Ethel of Kagawong. Proud grandmother of Allan (Jennifer), Bryan (Caitlin), Nicholas (Mylen), Braeden (Britney) and Jessey and great grandson Logan. Predeceased by sisters Edith Chisholm and Marguerite Becks and brother Grant Tustian. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home from 7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2012. The funeral service to celebrate Lois’ life was conducted in the William G. Turner Chapel on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 11 am with Reverand Mary Jo Eckert Tracy officiating. Interment was in Kagawong Cedars Cemetery. If so desired, donations to St. Paul’s on the Hill United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
