LITTLE CURRENT–On Thursday, March 15 at 10:50 am, Manitoulin OPP received information about a woman found with no vital signs at a residence situated on Hayward Street in Little Current. OPP officers attended the scene, confirmed the sudden death and contacted the coroner. The death is being treated as suspicious.
The deceased woman has been identified as Shelly Eadie, age 45, of Hayward Street in Little Current. The coroner has ordered a post mortem examination, which will take place on Friday, March 16, to determine the cause of death.
Preliminary investigation has led to the arrest and charges of a 26-year-old Little Current male.
The charges are: administering a noxious substance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and trafficking in a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
The man is being held in custody and will be appearing in Gore Bay Bail court on Friday, March 16, at 10 am.
OPP are advising that public safety is a top priority and that there are no safety concerns as a result of this investigation. The investigation is continuing with Manitoulin OPP officers and detectives from the OPP Northeast Regional Crime Unit, as well as members of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.
