Little Current Public Library News

The town library at 50 Meredith Street is becoming a popular spot for many local residents. The Art for Seniors Project, which ran over the past year headed up by Sophie Edwards, was an undisputed success. Plans are being made to hold more such art sessions over the upcoming months, funded by the Library Art Committee. Details will be posted in The Expositor on time for you to sign up ahead of each session.

Library Outreach is another busy volunteer group. With generous support from the Little Current Lions Club, they have managed to add a substantial number of large print books and materials to the collection. They focus specifically on helping seniors and others with eyesight problems. Thanks to these community helpers, reading or listening to audio books can still be an important source of pleasure for our older people.

“Get with the New Technology” is the next special program which the town’s library plans to introduce, utilizing the talents of our “Computer Guy” Wes Cline. Workshops will be offered, again to seniors, on all sorts of topics including smart phones, tablets, using your laptop, e-books, even enjoying computer games. Check with Karen at the Library to register, and watch for a list of topics and further details in The Expositor.

The next art exhibit and sale at the Library will feature more than 50 works by Sarah Warburton and Fay Reid. The show runs from April 22 to June 14. “Meet the Artists” is on Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm with light refreshments.

Friday afternoon games are still popular. Drop in for crib, scrabble and other fun socializers. The knitting and bridge groups meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays respectively. And of course, for a quiet corner to read or browse through a magazine, NEMI Public Library welcomes you.
