Little Current Lions Club harvests Tim Horton smiles

LITTLE CURRENT—Members of the Little Current Lions Club and a hardy group of volunteers rolled up their sleeves and set to making Smile Cookies during the recent Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign and their work was amply rewarded with a cheque for $2,048 that the Lions have earmarked for Manitoulin Centennial Manor’s Tree of Lights campaign.

“They did an amazing job,” said Little Current Tim Hortons manager Chantelle Dubroy as she presented the ceremonial cheque to club representatives.

“It’s harder than you would think,” laughed Lion President Bruce Burnett. “They kept them coming pretty steady.”

Little Current Lions who assisted with this year’s campaign included Lisa Moore, Margaret Bowerman, Alicia McCutcheon, Monique Lumley, Jocelinne Hillman, Beth Draper, Cheryl Draper, Lori Draper, Bruce Burnett and newest members, Abbie Drolet and Stacey Lewis. Also stepping up to the cookie decorating table this year were volunteers Wendy Gauthier, Beth Bond, Dan McDonald, Gloria McCulligh, Kim Case, Chloe Bowerman, David Draper, Linda Bowerman and Jennifer Hooper.

Ms. Dubroy noted that 100 percent of the proceeds from the Smile Cookie campaign go toward local charities in the communities Tim Hortons serves. The Smile Cookie campaign has been in operation for 26 years.
