Library Month was a real success this year with a total of 1108 patron visits during October, according to head librarian Judy Kift. The Open House held on October 25 was attended by several residents of Centennial Manor who benefit from Library Outreach. Transportation was made possible by the Lions Club. Roy Finch, Murchie Wright, Roy Giles and the others expressed real appreciation for a chance to actually get to the library, browse the stacks and socialize with other patrons, including a few council members, library board members and staff.
If you’ve been in to the library, you’ll see that it is already decorated in the festive spirit. A huge collection of Christmas themed books is on display.
The call to artists has gone out for the upcoming Christmas Art Show and Sale at the library. Artists still have until this Friday, November 21 to get their pieces in. Organizer Linda Jack explains, “We are repeating our $100 fundraiser which was so popular last year. Every painting/artwork will be priced at $100. with 50 percent going to the library to help fund programs. We especially want to keep the Art for Seniors classes going,” Ms. Jack adds. “Attendance this fall has been great.”
Saturday, November 29 from 1 pm is the opening reception for the Christmas Art Show. Everyone is welcome to join in, view the art, enjoy the refreshments, meet friends and perhaps find a gift, a book, or a card for that Christmas list. It promises to be a festive afternoon which will put us all in the spirit of the season.
