Little Current businessman charged with drug offences

LITTLE CURRENT – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Little Current businessman with drug related offences following a search warrant executed in Little Current.

At 5:30 pm on Tuesday, January 5, members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP, assisted by the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, along with the OPP Emergency Response Team, attended a business and attached residence in Little Current with a search warrant. As a result of the search cannabis, morphine, oxycodone and cash were seized.

As a result, a 41-year-old male of Little Current has been arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court on Friday, January 8 in Gore Bay.
