LETTERS: Thank goodness for ‘complainers,’ ‘thinkers’ and ‘doers’

Providence Bay Beach is much the better for all of you efforts

To the Expositor:

Thank you for publishing letters of people’s concerns regarding Providence Bay Beach over the years. I thought you, and your readers, might like to know that things are changing in our beautiful community. It is very gratifying to see the beach in Providence Bay being managed in such a way as to balance the ecosystem needs with the social and economic needs of the community.

I’d like to say thank you to all the people who complained. Where would we be without those “complainers?” A bigger thank you goes to those who were not content to simply complain about what we can’t do. They took the initiative to find out what we can do. Where would we be without those “thinkers?” The biggest thank you of all goes to the council and staff of Central Manitoulin who worked with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and Judith Jones to come up with an acceptable Beach Management Plan. This week, another phase of that plan was put into action. Where would we be without those “doers?”

Thank you to everyone for the part you’ve played in improving our community.
