Three cheers for a great editorial message, perhaps the most important and crucial of the year (’The curious transformation of “woke” to a pejorative,’ May 24, Page 4)!
We must all remain vigilant and alert to the threat posed by narrow, right-wing zealots who seek to impose their own twisted worldview on our society. If you are in doubt about this, just take a look at the extreme measures advocated by the Republican party south of the border to see the damage which can be inflicted by hatred and parochialism. One example here at home is Pierre Polievre’s threat to defund the CBC if (heaven forbid) he becomes our PM.
Honest, insightful reporting and journalism by likes of The Expositor, the Toronto Star, the Guardian and the New York Times, to name just a few, are crucial if we are to be honestly informed and forewarned of threats to our Canadian democracy! Keep up the good work!
