LEONA MARGARET JACKSON

Jackson-DeathLeona Margaret Jackson, of Gore Bay and formerly of Toronto, passed away at Manitoulin Lodge on Sunday, October 26, 2014 in her 86th year, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s for more than 14 years. Loving sister of William (Vera) Chatwell of Gore Bay, and very dear Aunt of William Jr. (Melanie), Robert (Lee), Kim (Beverly), Kerry (Sandra), Bonnie and Connie. Leona will be sadly missed by many great-nieces and nephews, as well as the many friends she made at the Lodge. Leona left the Island at a very young age to explore and travel the world. She ended up in Toronto, where she worked for Ontario Hydro for over 35 years. Leona was an accomplished ballroom dancer who also loved hiking, playing bridge and belonging to Greenpeace. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Elma (Case) Chatwell. At Leona’s request, a private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay. www.culginfuneralhome.ca.
