Lavish Your Independent Gocery store teams with MHC on fundraising

LITTLE CURRENT—The Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) Smart Fusion—Smarter Care fundraising campaign is set to benefit from a partnership with the Lavish’s Your Independent Grocer store in Little Current.

“Our goal is to raise $350,000 to purchase new intravenous smart pumps for our hospitals,” said MHC physician recruiter Dawn Noble, who is heading up the hospital’s campaign effort. “We have raised $148,000 to date and once we have reached our goal, these new smart pumps will represent a significant advancement in patient care, enhancing medication safety and accuracy and ultimately saving lives in our community.”

Ms. Noble explained that the collaboration with Lavish’s Your Independent Grocer initiative allows customers to easily add a dollar amount to their bill. “The proceeds directly supporting our fundraising efforts,” she said. “This collaboration not only provides a simple way for customers to contribute to a vital cause but also encourages shopping local, which directly benefits local healthcare.”

“We’re excited about the momentum we’ve built and are confident that, with continued effort, we will reach our goal and bring this new technology to our hospitals,” said MHC CEO and President Paula Fields. “There are challenges with the hospital and fundraising during these challenging times,” she noted. “It takes a community, and we really appreciate Lavish and his team for stepping forward and supporting us.”

“I’m super excited to support the community,” said store owner Lavish Dhir. “I think it’s the right way to do it. We help each other and help the community out.”

Mr. Dhir said his staff is fully on board with the campaign. “I’m super happy they will do it. We’ll ‘round off’ and at the end of the event. If we can donate anything, that will be great as well. I’m looking forward for it.”

The “check-out” campaign will run from April 1 to May 31.. During the campaign, checkout cashiers will be offering customers the opportunity to “round up” their purchases, with every dollar donated bringing better care to the Island communities.
