Lack of ice time leading up to Burlington tournament hurts Mustang’s hockey team

M’CHIGEENG—A lack of on-ice time over the past couple of weeks hurt the Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) Mustangs hockey team at a tournament the team took part in this past weekend.

Unfortunately, “we lost all three of our games in the tournament,” said MSS coach Steve Doane, after the Mustangs participation in the Bur Bear hockey tournament in Burlington.

“We were not sharp in the first game and lost 5-0,” said Mr. Doane. He pointed out one of the causes for this, “is that we have not been on the ice for the last past two weeks. In the other two games we had leads in both but couldn’t hold on.”

Mr. Doane noted that the Mustangs last regular season game will take place this Saturday at 6:30 pm at Carmichael Arena in Sudbury. After that the team will then embark on the division two playoffs.
