To the Expositor:
I write this letter on behalf of my Grandmother, Nokomis, Rosemary Lavallee. This incident occurred on the Friday of the May long weekend in Little Current.
On my way to her house, one block before her street, I noticed a vehicle pulled over and parked oddly on the corner. I then noticed a young man run across the street, he ran with a look of concern and in an urgent manner. I happened to look in the direction and noticed a walking chair partially laying in the ditch and then…my Nokomis, laying on the ground next to her walking chair. (Age, health, physical abilities and strength on a sloping pavement led to her fall.) These two people were acting out of genuine care and concern of her wellbeing. They stopped and helped her to her feet. I pulled over and ran to help. I was immediately grateful that there were two people who stopped to help her.
She later told me that she was so glad those two people came, after so many vehicles drove by! She could not believe how many vehicles did not stop, but was extremely grateful of the woman and the young man of separate vehicles who were caring enough to stop and help her.
We both would like to thank those individuals who stopped.
