March 19, 1924 – April 18, 2014
In loving memory of Ken McDermid, a resident of Providence Bay, who died at the Mindemoya Hospital on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the age of 90 years. He was born in Campbell Township, son of the late Colin and Elizabeth (Jaffrey) McDermid. Ken had farmed all his life at Providence Bay and was still helping out on the farm until four years ago, a feat not accomplished by many. Ken had been the Road Superintendent for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Salem Missionary Church. Ken was a quiet, kind man who liked a good joke. He will be sadly missed. Ken is survived by his beloved wife Maria (Scott) McDermid. Loving and loved father of David (Bev) of Providence Bay, Gordon (Marilyn) of Sudbury and Robert (Brenda) of Lively. Proud grandfather of Angela, Terri, Pamela, Gordon Jr., TJ, Cameron and Leah and great-grandchildren Carson, Mika, Sebastien, Natalie, Theodore, Spencer, Parker, Evan and Zachary. Dear brother of Jean Hale (Jack predeceased). Also survived by niece Fern Pugh. A memorial service to celebrate Ken’s life will be conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel of the Culgin Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11 am with Pastor Allan Wilkinson officiating. If so desired, donations to the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.culginfuneralhome.ca. Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay, 705-282-2270.
