Karen Mary Louise Manitowabi

of Wikwemikong, 
January 15, 1960 – July 6, 2013. Karen died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Health Sciences North Hospital on Saturday at the age of 53. 
Beloved Mom to Bradley, Chas (Casey) and Jeanette; will be missed by their father Douglas and grams Lucy Ida Pitawanakwat. Cherished Mama to Steve, Ava-Rain and Layla Rose. Dear daughter of Alex and Victoria Manitowabi (both predeceased). Dearly missed by sisters Maureen (Randy), Cindy (Howard), June (Ron), Paulette (Luke), Claudette (Todd), Velma, Wilma, Fedra (predeceased) and brother Warren. Survived by her special mentors Aunts Liza, Theresa, Edna and Uncle Peter. Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, foster children, water walkers and her rain dance family. 
Karen enjoyed spending her time with her loving children and grandchildren who brought the best out of her. She also spent most of her time providing traditional teachings. Karen travelled to many places in Canada to help those in need of healing through cedar bath teachings. Karen had a very welcoming heart to those she touched with her presence. Karen enjoyed many things such as camping, fishing, hiking, gardening, and travelling to attend ceremonies. She will be missed immensely by many communities. Karen’s spirit will continue to be felt by our love. Rested at Holy Cross Mission Church from Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. 
Funeral Service 
was at 11 am on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Wikwemikong 
Fr. Henk van Migiel officiated. Laid to rest at 113 Maiangowi Road, Murray Hill. Arrangements entrusted with Island Funeral Home, Little Current.
