ESPANOLA—Next weekend, October 17 to 19, Espanola will again be holding a Fibre Arts Festival with Bay Estates textile artist Judy Martin giving the keynote address at the opening reception followed by a showing of the Manitoulin Circle Project liturgical hangings.

Ms. Martin’s address will be given on Friday, October 17 from 7 to 9 pm at the United Church of Espanola, admission by donation with the exhibition on all weekend long at the church.

The Fibre Arts Festival has many offerings over the three days, from making baskets of many descriptions to fibre sculpting, arm knitting, rug hooking, crocheting for beginners and making a sistrum (a musical instrument in the percussion family). Costs for the 13 varying workshops range from $80 to $10 and those wishing to register can do so by logging on to www.espanolafibreartsfestival.ca or by calling 705-583-2326.

There are also plenty of family friendly events from pumpkin geocaching at the recreation centre, farm tours, pumpkin fun including a pumpkin pancake breakfast, pumpkin carving contest and a giant pumpkin weigh-in and so much more.
